911

It's the time of the year again.  I didn't make it to the Ground Zero this year, as I have been in the past few years.  However, I was there this Monday.

Early Monday evening, my wife and I decided to try out a water taxi from 84 Pier to the WTC site via the Hudson River.  To our pleasant surprise, the taxi was empty; there was not single tourist on either the lower or the upper deck. So we had the entire boat for ourselves, as if on a chartered private vessel.  We were even out-numbered by the friendly three-member crew.  The ride was bumpy as it was windy and the water choppy.  But we had a very nice clear view of the skyline during the 10-minute ride on the west river.

Sadly, it appears that the water taxi business may be short-lived and will not survive until next year.
